How does The.Plaid work?

Temperature
The infrared heat emitted on the highest red setting goes up to 65 °C degrees. The heat you will experience is lower. On the highest setting, you will reach a temperature of 45 °C. This is the temperature we consider safe and responsible. There are two reasons for this.

  • Before the heat reaches you, it must first pass through the outer cover. This reduces heat.
  • A heating blanket is more loose around you. There is less direct contact with the heating elements as there is, for example, with a pillow like The.Pillow. The same infrared technology is used in all our heating products. The effects are therefore the same, the experience may differ. So with The.Plaid, you not only enjoy the warmth, but also the comfort of a blanket with ‘body’ around you.

Material
The.Plaid has a high cuddliness factor and is made of wonderfully soft Teddy fleece. The blanket consists of an inner cover including heating elements and is attached to the outer cover with drawstrings. This prevents them from shifting and the outer cover can be removed for machine washing. With the button in the leather label, you adjust temperature to 3 different settings. The 20,000 mAh battery can be recharged, allowing the heat blanket to be used wirelessly.

Safety
All our products are extensively tested and bear the necessary seals of approval. The battery is protected against overheating and switches off when it gets too hot.

Technology

Infrared heating technology is used, more specifically FIR (Far Infra Red). This is a long-wave infrared, also known as IR-C, which penetrates the deeper layers of the body, heating it from the inside out. In simple terms, it means that water molecules present in ample quantities in humans and animals efficiently absorb energy and convert it into heat. Your body temperature rises as a result; you get nice and warm while the air around you remains cold. So the thermostat can be turned down a degree.

Health

Although there is as yet little medical evidence on the health effects of infrared heating in warming blankets and pillows, they can provide relief. Think of relieving stiffness of muscles and joints because the heat stimulates blood circulation and therefore relaxation. The size of the blanket also plays a role. You can comfortably wrap yourself in it. When you feel stressed or tired, the warmth combined with the softness of the blanket can make you feel relaxed.

Durable

A cup of tea, your favourite series or a film and a super soft blanket big enough to snuggle under. Sounds like an ideal evening right? Just you being nicely heated and not the space around you. So the thermostat can be a degree lower. One degree lower quickly means 6% less scalding gas. And less heating means lower costs. And that's good for your wallet. That not only makes the environment happy, but you too!

Heating elements

In our designs, we have chosen several individual heat elements that are interconnected. The quantity of elements is matched to the size of the product so that the largest possible surface area is heated. Each product has a battery with a capacity that is again adjusted to the number of heating elements. This way, we make sure you can enjoy the warmth for as long as possible. The.Plaid has no less than 8 heat elements and a 20,000 mAh battery, good for 10 hours of heat.
