Washing fleece blanket?
Doing some laundry
Does your heat blanket need a wash? You simply can. Our heating products come with a separate outer cover that can be machine washed. With just a little attention, you can make sure your heating product stays as soft as when you bought it!
What you need:
Everyone has a washing machine in their home these days. You can wash by hand, but the drying process, in particular, then takes much more time.
Preferably liquid detergent
Clothesline or drying rack or possibly a tumble dryer
Washing heating pad or blanket
You naturally want to enjoy your heat product for as long as possible. The fabric we use is a high-quality material. With the right treatment, nothing of its quality needs to be lost and you can enjoy it for years.
Do I need to pre-treat the fleece blanket?
First of all remove you the outer cover of your heat product. The.Plaid or the cushion can not (!) whole in the washing machine. Pre-treatment is only necessary if stains have been made on your warming blanket or pillow. Then you can pre-treat these with a fine detergent. Put a small amount of detergent on the stain and rub it in with your hands or a soft brush. Let it soak in for a while before putting your blanket or cushion in the washing machine.
On which programme do I wash my heat pad - blanket?
Wash your fleece blanket or pillow with cold or lukewarm water. Preferably no warmer than 30 degrees. Too hot water can cause the fibres to be damaged which can result in the loss of softness or even shrinkage. Therefore, choose a fine wash programme. This is gentler on fibres than the standard programme.
What detergent do I use to wash my heat blanket?
Use a mild, liquid detergent and avoid using fabric softener. Fabric softener can create static electricity, which is not pleasant. Optionally, you can add your favourite laundry perfume so that your heating blanket or heating pad smells extra nice after washing! Make sure you wash the cover or several covers separately from other materials such as towels or jeans. And do not overload the washing machine. This prevents friction and damage to the fibres.
Drying your heating blanket or pillow
After washing, dry your heat blanket. At preferred dry your outer covers on a drying rack or clothesline. Hang the blanket inside in a well-ventilated room. Outside is also possible, especially in spring and summer. In that case, do not hang the fleece products in the sun. Sun can affect the colour and damage the fibres. Are there wrinkles after washing? Doesn't matter, they will come out on their own during drying. Be sure to use no iron. The heat can damage the fibres, making the blanket or pillow less soft.
Do you still want to dry the fleece blanket and/or fleece pillow in the dryer? You can, but use a air-dry programme or the lowest heat setting.
Additional tips
Now that you know the best way to wash and dry your fleece blanket and/or fleece pillow, below are some additional tips that promote longevity.
What do I do with dog and cat hair on my heat blanket?
Our four-legged friends love our heat products! Lovely to lie on or under! But then those hairs...
Using rubber gloves, wipe over your heat product, collecting the hairs to 1 spot.
An adhesive roller or tape also helps well.
When you rub the blanket or pillow with a balloon, static electricity is generated and hairs are attracted.
How do I make my fleece pillow smell nice without washing?
Of course let your blanket or pillow air out from time to time. Is this not enough or do you want something extra? Then use a textile spray. With the advent of laundry perfumes, we also see textile spray in abundance (again). There are many delicious scents available, so there is bound to be something tasty for you.
Store the blanket or cushion temporarily for a while. Then put a nice soap or scented card between them.
